June 24/06/2017 The German weekly Der Spiegel speaks about Vjosa and the Balkan rivers ! May 30/05/2017 After a trial with the Italian promotor of dam project Kaliçav on river Vjosa, the albanian government declared reopened the invitation to tender. Industrials have to apply before July 18th. That can be somewhat contradicting the government displayed intention to create a natural park on the Vjosa. 2/05/2017 About 30 international researchers give a conference on an island of the Vjosa to ask for studies on this river before it be human-managed by dams. It has been said that the sediments washed along the river could be detrimental to hydropower production. This hypothesis had not been considered yet in the projects.  The same day is published the ruling of the albaian administrative court about one of the Vjosa dam project "Poçem" : the project is cancelled because of the lack of proper public survey and failure to respect the albanian environmental law. This historic decisions follows the action by several NGOs, 38 residents and supported by many scientists. April 12/04/2017 EP vice-president reasserts the importance of Vjosa and her disagreement with a dam-building politic destroying nature. For her, the necessary development of Albania can also invlove ecotourism, which perfectly fits in the Vjosa region. 2/12/2016 Environmental NGOs andt 38 residents of the village Küte take a legal action against the dam project "Poçem". It is the first action against a dam carried by civil society in Albania....see May 2d 2017 August 3/08/2016 A step behing for the Vjosa the media coverage : an article is published in the Time, the famous NYC magazine. It is the 2d large-scale American journal (after the Scientific Ameriacan) that spread the information , thanks to an article from the same journalist, John Wendle. July 23-24/07/2016 Meeting of the Albanyak team in Brittany. Most of us have their master degree in ecology now ! 10/07/2016 Lauching of the Kengo crowndfunding. If we reach at least the 70% of the amount, the "Conseil Régional de Bretagne" (Region of Britanny) helps us with the 30% more ! June 29/06/2016 Another good news, the funds "Jeunes à Travers le Monde" backs Albanyack with a grant that makes us reach the fourth of our project financed. The same day in Brussels, a meeting takes place with EU Parliament VP Ulrike Lunacek who leads, MPs, citizen partnerships, delegates from NGOs and a Albanian ambassador. To finish with this busy day, an article with a video report (watch the video on the Home page) is published in the Scientific American, alerting about the dangers of dams projects on the Vjosa. 25/06/2016 Good news !! The "CRIJ de Rennes" named us "Coup de coeur" and becomes the first financial support of our project. 9/06/2016 International scientists ask for a moratory on dams construction across the Vjosa, after a 2 day international Conference in Tirana and Vjosa edges, with researchers from Albania, Austria and Germany. http://www.balkanrivers.net/en/news/scientists-criticize-dam-projects-vjosa April-May 16/04 - 20/05/2016 Save the Blue Heart of Europe and Leeway collective organize "the Balkan rivers tour". Ending on the Vjosa, this " will encompass 6 countries, 18 rivers, 11 events and in 35 days" Avril - mai 2016 Our contacts with Albania grow : NGO, University Professors from Austria, Germany... 2-3/04/2016 A date scheduled a long time ago : the four of us meet (despite our internships in different parts of France) to plan Albanyak in details.
